Marketing operations
Building the foundations that help marketing teams execute clearly, collaborate well, and grow without creating unnecessary friction.
Marketing Operations Lead at OpenAI
I’m Jeff Canada. I build the connective tissue between strategy, data, and technology—so marketing teams can move faster, work smarter, and scale with a little less chaos.
A little about me
I lead marketing operations at OpenAI, where I’m focused on building the systems and workflows that help good ideas become real, repeatable work.
I’m drawn to the part of marketing most people never see: how information moves, how teams stay connected, and how the right tools make the whole thing feel simpler. My favorite problems sit somewhere between strategy, data, and technology.
Lately, that means thinking a lot about practical AI—not as an extra layer of complexity, but as a way to make marketing systems more useful, more thoughtful, and a little more human.
Curious by default. Practical on purpose.
Where I spend my time
Marketing works better when the strategy, systems, data, and people are all having the same conversation.
Building the foundations that help marketing teams execute clearly, collaborate well, and grow without creating unnecessary friction.
Turning AI from an interesting idea into useful systems that remove repetitive work and help people make better decisions.
Connecting the right moments, messages, and handoffs so customer experiences feel considered instead of stitched together.
Making campaign and operational data easier to trust, understand, and use when it’s time to decide what happens next.
Bridging the gap between a good plan and the systems, teams, and day-to-day workflows that actually make it happen.
How I think about the work
The best systems are usually the ones people barely notice—because they make the next step obvious.
Find the actual source of friction before introducing another tool, dashboard, or process.
Good operations create clarity around what’s happening, what matters, and what still needs an answer.
A system is only useful when it fits real workflows, respects people’s judgment, and gets better over time.
Outside the day job
Sometimes the best way to explore an idea is to build the small, useful version.
SIDE PROJECT / EVERYDAY COORDINATION
A simple planner that turns a messy group conversation into a clearer plan—without pretending to know what it doesn’t.
A good conversation is a start
I’m always interested in thoughtful conversations about marketing operations, practical AI, and building systems that actually help.
